Introduction
Promotion and Development (PROYDE) is an association governed by principles that regulate our mission and direct our vision and by values that define our institutional philosophy and style of management.
Mission of PROYDE
The mission of PROYDE is to contribute, through our work and our testimony, to the construction of a world in which all people may live with dignity. To make this possible, we establish channels of active participation so that whomever wants to live in genuine solidarity with these ideals can commit themselves to the construction of a more just world.
Through its connection to the Brothers of The Catholic Schools- La Salle -PROYDE proposes to all members of the Lasaliana family, and through them to society as a whole, that the privileged live in solidarity with these ideals as much in their immediate surroundings as do those in impoverished countries (third-world countries). The foundations of this connection and bond exist in brotherhood, personal change, and the right to education.
To make this mission possible, PROYDE works on:
Development programs and projects in impoverished nations, especially within the field of the right to education.
The transformation of social, political and economic structures that are at the origin of inequality, injustice and exclusion. Additionally, PROYDE works to change the values that contribute to the persistence of these unjust structures. This transformation is made by means of education about development, promotion of societal interest and sentiment, campaigns of political advocacy, promotion of volunteerism, and the commitment to fair trade and responsible consumerism.
Vision of PROYDE
PROYDE aims to be recognized and known as a non-profit organization consistent with its mission and effective in its contributions to education, societal interest and sentiment, political advocacy, promotion of volunteerism and fair trade. Furthermore, PROYDE aims to be successful in the completion of the development projects to which it has committed itself. We work to be effective and efficient from an organizational point of view, to be strong managers of our resources, and to be transparent in the information that we give to those who trust in us and to society in general.
Values of PROYDE
All of our association´s activities are based on these convictions and principles which make up the framework of our organizational philosophy and which exist as the common heritage and identity of the men and women that are an active part of our association. This common heritage, which has its source in our brotherhood, is learned through the shared equality with one another, that no matter who you are, all others in the association are your brother.
1–The Dignity of All People
We believe that all people have the right to enjoy a dignified life and to live with liberty and in conditions that allow for the achievement of their own personal development. We want to eradicate the poverty that our fellow man and community are subjected to. Therefore, we look for our own resources and to other entities to liberate man from poverty and inequality.
2–The Ability of All People and Groups
We understand that people and communities that live in unjust situations or come from inequality are the protagonists in their own development. Therefore, we work from their side so that they can make their own development proposals. We always collaborate in manners consistent with our goals and objectives.
3–The Value in All People
We know that each community and person that forms has its own values. We work to learn, accept, respect, and promote these values. Therefore, we maintain contact with them, spread their values and inform them of the progress and fulfillment of the promises made with them.
4–The Commitment to the Right to Education
We reaffirm the conviction that education is the indispensable catalyst for all people and communities to develop themselves. This conviction is projected in all that we do and promoted extensively in all impoverished countries just as in our immediate surroundings. The right to education marks the foundation in the fulfillment of our projects and programs. In impoverished countries we promote a quality education and the equality of all children. In our surroundings we promote campaigns of societal interest and sentiment, of education and solidarity, of promotion of justice and of the proposal to change social and economic values.
5–Commitment to Fostering and Participating in Networks of Solidarity
We are convinced that it is only possible to make the change to a new world order if we work integrated with networks of solidarity. Due to that belief, we actively look to foster and participate in networks of solidarity with institutions and people with whom we can share our objectives and goals.
