Long Term Volunteering 1
In view of the collaboration of PROYDE with its local counterparts in recent years and the future prospects of it, both PROYDE and its partners understand that Long Term International Volunteering can be an opportune support for the work of accompaniment of development in the education sector, which PROYDE performs.
Likewise, it is perceived that the local counterparts are making a growing offer for this type of Volunteering and show a disposition to prepare themselves as entities to welcome these Volunteers.
The Long-Term International Volunteering Program aims to be an instrument that stimulates this type of International Volunteering and facilitates its incorporation into ongoing development processes, through adequate preparation of the Volunteers, the establishment of economic conditions that make possible and the opportune diffusion and approach of the offer of places to the / the plaintiffs.
Objectives of Long Term International Volunteering
Respond to the growing demand, by the counterparts of the countries of the South for PROYDE, of Volunteers with personal and professional quality who support specific tasks and for a long time.
Encourage the Volunteer to make decisions that can lead to a change of life, since he is already aware of the unjust reality suffered by the impoverished.
Become a sensitizing agent of your personal, work and social environment.
Engage efficiently and continuously with the actions of PROYDE or another organization of a similar nature.
Requirements to participate as a Long Term International Volunteer
In addition to the General Requirements to participate in the PROYDE Volunteering of the Volunteering section in PROYDE and those mentioned in the section Conditions necessary to be an International Volunteer (See: International Volunteering), the following are added:
Volunteer should be at least 22 years of age when traveling to the project site.
Formalizes in writing his request for participation in the Program, in accordance with the procedures and terms established by PROYDE.
Participate actively in the specific training activities for Long Term International Volunteering.
Possess capacity (academic qualification and / or demonstrable professional training), to develop and be responsible for the activity that will be developed.

Sign, together with PROYDE and the Institution that will receive you as a Volunteer, the "Agreement for Incorporation into Long Term Volunteering" in which the following are contemplated, with respect to the volunteer: dates and functions to be carried out, accompaniment and its evaluations, as well as the economic regime. The agreement also specifies the commitments of PROYDE and those of the entity that receives it.
Be committed to return, once the period of time established.
Conditions and commitments for participation in Long Term International Volunteering
PROYDE maintains an updated and permanent convocation of the long-term International Volunteer places it receives and accepts from its counterparts in the South. This offer is periodically communicated to the Territorial Delegates.
Those wishing to apply for one of the Long Term International Volunteer places must complete the same form used for the International Summer Volunteer.
The selection of candidates is based on the study of the form received and, at least, two personal interviews with members of the Volunteer Department of PROYDE 2 . The selection process will end at the end of the training as a Long Term Volunteer.
To be a Long Term International Volunteer, it is required to be a PROYDE Local Volunteer and have participated, at least, in one of the Short-Term International Volunteer Programs (Youth or Summer) with PROYDE or a Lasallian NGO. If you have been a Volunteer outside the scope of Lasalianas NGDOs, the voluntary benefit must be expressly admitted as valid by PROYDE.
It is an essential condition to carry out a specific training. In principle, the face-to-face course taught in Madrid by the School of Missionary Formation, with which PROYDE and the La Salle Institution collaborate, is considered the most appropriate.
Depending on personal circumstances, an OnLine training, prepared by PROYDE in collaboration with the School of Missionary Formation, which will have tutorials by the professors who hold the School of Missionary Formation or by an observer, may alternatively be offered. / a companion during the training. 3
If it is not possible to carry out the proposed training, another channel of training similar to the previous ones can be offered alternatively.
Economic regime 4
The economic costs of the voluntary benefit will have the purpose of guaranteeing that said voluntary benefit can be carried out under decent conditions and facilitate the social-labor reintegration of the Volunteer upon return.
The economic costs of voluntary provision are a shared commitment of those who participate in it: the Volunteer, the local counterpart and PROYDE. In general, the economic costs will be shared among the three parties and reflected in the "Incorporation Agreement".
PROYDE will formalize travel and stay insurance that includes adequate coverage. In addition, it will provide a repatriation fund for each Volunteer, in order to facilitate their social-labor reincorporation upon return. The way to pay for this repatriation fund will be established in agreement with the Volunteer, after studying his personal situation.
The economic conditions that govern the voluntary provision will be included in the "Agreement of Incorporation to Long Term Volunteering" signed between the parties to cover said benefit, explicitly describing the commitments acquired by each party. 5
PROYDE will designate a companion or tutor, from among its personnel, for each Volunteer. 6
They will be functions of the companion or tutor / a: to supervise all the process of formation of the Volunteer / and to give the V º Bº to the formation realized, making effective the selection of the Voluntary / a. During the voluntary service, communicate with the Volunteer at least once a quarter, guaranteeing, in any case, that it will be smooth. 7
The accompanying person will be responsible for the Volunteer to send him the corresponding semi-annual evaluations and will send the Volunteer the comments and recommendations that he considers appropriate to improve his voluntary performance. At the end of the voluntary service, the chaperone will be responsible for the Volunteer's sending the corresponding final evaluation and will make a final report.
It is also your responsibility to accompany the volunteer on his return, through meetings and communications with him / her that he / she considers necessary, in order to: facilitate his / her psychological and personal acclimatization to the new situation; help him in his personal discernment and in the making of vital options for the future; ensure that the Volunteer receives an adequate proposal of insertion in the Local Volunteer of PROYDE or that, if it is his desire, he commits himself in another organization with solidary aims. Support him in his labor reinsertion.
Carrying out the accompaniment of the Volunteer on his return is an unavoidable responsibility on the part of PROYDE. If the case arises, the impossibility on the part of the companion or tutor / a to realize this accompaniment on the return, does not exempt PROYDE from doing it, arbitrating other alternative means. 8
The Volunteer will make a semi-annual evaluation and a final evaluation of their work, using an appropriate form. These evaluation reports must be approved by the local counterpart. The accompanist of the Volunteer in PROYDE will carry out the evaluation and monitoring reports with the information received.
In case of breach of contract by the Volunteer or the local counterpart, when advised by the personal circumstances of the Volunteer or the alterations in the work entrusted to him, and prior communication to the Management Committee of PROYDE, it will be terminated the voluntary provision.
When they so advise, they can also be reasons to terminate the voluntary provision, the changes in the socio-political conditions of the country.
1.-PROYDE has a protocol on "Long-Term Volunteering" of which we summarize here.
2.-If the place is offered by the ARLEP and wishes to manage it through PROYDE, the candidates must also maintain an interview with the person / s designated by the ARLEP.
3.-Normally the tutor will be exercised by the corresponding teacher of the School of Missionary Formation. When this is not possible, another expert person with the necessary qualification in the subject or topics will be enabled.
4.-What is said below is established in general terms for the candidate for the Long-Term International Volunteer as well as for PROYDE. In each case, will be established by common agreement and will be included in the Agreement that is signed, the particularities that are convenient.
5.-In the event that the Volunteer offer starts from the ARLEP and the mediation of PROYDE is demanded, the economic conditions worthy must be procured by the ARLEP. PROYDE will collaborate with ARLEP to achieve it.
6.-Normally it should be: the Delegate or Volunteer Responsible of a Territorial Delegation or a member of the Management Committee
7.-Depending on the country of destination, ordinary mail, telephone, email, video-conference, etc. will be used.
8.-In the event that the volunteer offer starts from the ARLEP and PROYDE mediation is requested, it will be ARLEP's commitment to ensure as much as possible the socio-labor reintegration of the Volunteer upon his return.
